Three ways to get paid for your words

From The Irrelevant Investor:

“Three ways to get paid for your words:
1) Lie to people who want to be lied to, and you’ll get rich.
2) Tell the truth to those who want the truth, and you’ll make a living.
3) Tell the truth to those who want to be lied to and you’ll go broke.”

The first category explains why there is so much crap out there. I think I've spent too much time in the past doing the third. I'll leave it up to you to work out which of the gold bloggers/commentators out there fit into which category.

  2. Whether you choose to lie or tell the truth as you see it is a character issue. How accurate the truth as you see it models reality is an analytical issue, the quality of which is evident over time.

When I first started reading gold market blogosphere commentary, it didn't take too long to figure out that some folks are sunshine pumpers, some are debbie downers and a few are real critical thinkers. Everyone has filters/blinders that tailor their perceptions in line with their belief systems - that's part of the human condition.

I appreciate your on-topic writings Bron, but I do find these types of "gold bloggers are charlatans" posts distasteful. Trader Dan was also leaning heavily on this crutch last I saw. It's the same dynamic - the other side of the coin - to the "debbie downers are co-conspirators with the central bank cabal" type commentary.

JMHO, but there is no need to roll around in the mud. The audience is listening. Cheers.
